Our Hero Subs in Springfield

This place isn't worth your time or money, me and a co worker stopped in for lunch, everything on the menu looks like it would be good, but when you actually get the food it's a let down. The cookies where freezer burnt, took way to long to make our food, subs where sloppily thrown together, honestly just a waste.Read all the reviews before you eat here...

Delicious

Some of the best subs in Springfield. Never had a bad meal from there. I’m partial to their pizza sub. It’s the cats pajamas!

Soo much better than derr road! They weren’t busy but all of them were cleaning. The older gentleman was really polite and friendly! We drive the extra miles to go to the Plum location! Awesome job!!

Just ate here for the first time. I got the club on a sub, toasted. So good! They put an Italian dressing on it, making it have just the right amount of tang mixed with the onion, lettuce and tomatoes. The bread is awesome. Great sub! Way better than subway. I’ll definitely be back!

Ordered sub without oil an vinegar, not aware of they put red peppers with more nasty vinegar. That’s not what your sign says. It states red peppers. I returned the sandwich to store and the lady said that’s what you ordered. Okay so I slide the sandwich across the counter and you can throw it away then. Left with no refund or sandwich. Lady was rude. I would never eat there again.

Honestly I've ate Our Hero for years and this was the worst experience I've ever had. 1. The heat wasnt working it was cold in there2. No fountain pop machine was taken apart3. Fries were not done and rubbery4. Sub was not warm the meat was still coldAt least my cheese sticks were good I guessI have always ate at this location too cause it has always tasted better but I dont think I will go back.

Good sandwiches but, very poor regard to Covid. No employees had masks, I saw one employee drive up with her apron on. Touching the door, her face, etc. And another employee helping load a car, with his work apron on touching variety of possible contaminated things, doors, car door, etc.

Nice local sandwich shop. Cheese steak, meatball, Italian are all good here.

Absolutely Terrible, way over priced, food was bland and greasy, ordered onion rings and mushrooms and got like 7 of each sub's were more sauce than meat. The people were friendly but that was the only positive. Never going back.

I'm really disappointed our hero on plum St used to be the best sandwich shop in town but lately the sandwiches have really lightened up the meat has become skimpy I understand that food cost is rising so I just order extra meat only to find out when I pay extra I still just get the same amount I have spent thousands of dollars at this establishment and this is how I get gratitude?no thanks I'll just go somewhere else from now on

Not worth 1 Star.Went Sunday night 2/24/2019 just before closing. Ordered BLR with extra cheese n onion. I combined the BLT and Grilled Cheese subs.Ordered a large fry.The sub had NO cheese or onions and 2 small tomato slices with chopped lettuce.The bacon was AWESOME!The french fries were BEYOND HORRIBLE! There were EXACTLY 15 fries. There were cold and half raw.Absolutely a horrible experience. Will NEVER go there again!

I could drink the red sauce which is a secret family recipe I heard, so delicious!! The bread tastes home made, a perfect blend of crusty and chewy. I high recommend!

My first time eating here and the food was DELICIOUS! I had the Super Cheese steak and let me tell ya, that was the BEST cheese steak I've ever had!

Our Hero has really good subs. I have been a costumer for 15+ years. I used to frequent Urbana location when I lived that way. I usually go to North Plum location now. They have a more extensive menu than they used to. Anything I have gotten is good and fresh. I like their fries and cookies. Wait isn't usually too bad.

The website saids they close at 9. I called at 7:40 sitting in the parking lot ready to put my order in and she answered saying our hero we are closed so I said okay and hung up. Then I called back another lady answered and said our hero south plum. I said what time do y’all close she said we shut our grill down at 7:45 and close at 8. Well I think someone needs to change their website

I got the Veggie & the 3 Cheese subs, oh my gosh. ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!!! My fiancée got the chicken salad and the Italian, she loved them both but the salmi had a little more flavor than she would’ve preferred. My only complaint is the price- but obviously my review is still 5 stars so not that big of a deal for us lol!! We are from out of town and wanted to try a new place. SO glad we picked this!

What happened to other quality of food at Our Hero? I’m visiting and the sub quality is horrible. Old lettuce, overloaded with mayonnaise, and hardly any chicken. Really disappointed.

Going to try something new. Going to keep it short. Been eating our hero subs for last 25 years. Consistency is the key, the Italian is consistently the best sub they have. The roast beef and turkey amazing. The roast beef with the works amazing. Not really a fan of the Reuben, but I don't like Reuben sandwiches so not surprising.The salads are great, in short I love the place, great place to eat good service and consistency. If you are not sure what to get, go and get an 8 inch Italian sit back and enjoy.

Best sandwiches in town!

Ordered two hot ham and cheese sandwiches and two chillies enough extra cheese and onions..... well the sandwiches I literally had to check to see if meat was on them. And the chili ward not only pretty much cold but had a tiny bit of cheese and no onions. When I tried to talk to the little girl behind the desk she read nothing but attitude even after I showed her the food so we just took our order we were going to sit down and eat and left. We had ham at home that we added to our sandwiches and put the chillies in the microwave

Burger packed with flavor and extremely fresh! When I unwrapped this burger it was steaming. Will continue to come here.

Great subs and other items at somewhat high prices, yet still cheaper than places like Mike and Rosy's (Rosie's? Don't know, don't care...) which has always been so expensive it is basically a local meme. Our Hero has not only fantastic hoagies but also the best friend mushrooms I have ever had, fantastic burgers, and if you catch them on special you will get quite a bit of amazing food for under ten dollars. The cashiers/servers are always nice, the food is always prepared expertly, and I have never ordered one thing in the decade I have lived here I felt was unsatisfactory. I highly recommend this restaurant, at any of their locations, not just this one. Definitely an asset to the greater Springfield area!

Fast service, very reasonably priced and there is a great range on the menu. Local to Wittenberg which is helpful. I had the steak sub which was tasty and filling. Bread was good as well; nice and soft. My colleague had a chilli which smelt delicious. I would go back if I were in the area.

I ordered the super cheese steak, it was not worth it. I thought it was bland, for 14 bucks and change It should have had more flavor.

Most amazing cheesesteak in town! I also recommend the fried pickles! Fast, friendly service and delicious!!
